Did you know that music is a crucial part of what makes us human? We are all born musical. We are wired that way. Music is embedded within us and somehow it gets "taught out of us" throughout our early years and our schooling years. Some children grow up without opportunities to nurture their musical intelligence. This is devastating to me... Consider other cultures. Music is a huge part of ceremonies, festivals, celebrations, and everyday life. Singing is as natural as talking (and in fact infants prefer your singing voice to your speaking voice!). Children love to sing! Children love to move! Don't all children deserve opportunities to develop their musical skills through authentic, high quality, enriched, potent musical experiences? The answer is yes!
Don't be afraid to sing in front of your children. Why is it considered strange or bizarre if you burst into song at your workplace? Perhaps in some places it's still common: some pubs, some workplaces, sometimes. Let's take music away from elitism and everything you ever thought and put it back into the everyday, the common place, the normal. Advocate for quality music education in your schools. Ask me how! And please consider completing my Freesia Music Level Courses to upskil yourself and your colleagues.
